Eluveitie

Picture of Eluveitie

Name: Eluveitie
Genre: Folk Metal / Metal / Melodic Death Metal
Description: This band are neither new nor Post-Hardcore, but they're one of my favourite bands and so I felt that I had to give them a review on the site. Eluveitie are from Switzerland and have created an exciting fusion between folk, pagan and celtic sounds, and metal. There's an increasing number of Scandinavian bands who seek to develop this exotic genre, however few do it  like Eluveitie do. Effortlessly blending guitar solos with Swiss and Celtic instruments, offering up a diverse range of vocals from unclean growls to female clean interludes, as well as creating something deeply meaningful and powerful, Eluveitie have crafted a distinct and unique sound. It may not appeal to the majority, but that isn't the point of this band. It may only be enjoyed by a select group of music listeners, but it is special, personal and evocative.

Atlantica

Name: Atlantica
Genre: Post-Hardcore
Description: New Post-Hardcore's purpose is to review the newest Post-Hardcore bands around - and Atlantica certainly fulfil that criteria, being formed earlier this year, in spring 2012. Their music is melodic and filled with the big catchy choruses distinctive of Post-Hardcore music. However there's also an aggressive and rough edge, which may be partly due to the unsigned and inexperienced nature of the band, but it's refreshing and distinctive and adds a personal feel to their sound. Combining chaos and melody with a lot of energy and passion, Atlantica create reviving music and have a lot of potential. Their music is available for free download below or from their Facebook page.

Description: The German Post-Hardcore band 'The Edge of Reason', founded in 2012, have a dynamic sound, switching between hardcore unclean vocals and breakdowns to clean, catchy choruses. The heavier elements are great - with lots of powerful drums and guitars as well as diverse vocals ranging from the higher screams to lower growls. This band take everything from the metalcore genre and combine it with a melodic feel, creating a thick and exciting sound. This Treasure

Name: This Treasure
Genre: Post-Hardcore / Electronic
Description: From Ontario, Canada, come the Post-Hardcore band 'This Treasure'. Opting for the Hardcore / Electronic mix, this band have a fresh sound and lots of potential. There are a lot of heavier elements with their songs filled with unclean vocals, paired with clean, catchy choruses that break up the sound well. Their debut EP 'Aspirations' will be available soon and they've just begun to release some songs (check out the link below - there are free downloads). Considering the fact this band has just began producing records, their talent is great. There are a few repetitious moments and they don't have something that makes them especially stand out from other post-hardcore bands at the moment, but that sort of thing comes in time. Great bands aren't formed in a day. Despite this, they've nailed the Post-Hardcore sound and I reckon once they've got a bit of experience under their belts they'll go far. Here's to the future - I'm looking forward to hearing more from this band.
